    To interpret 18 poems by the poet, the editor Samuel Lopes chose 18 female voices from fado.

    The recurring theme in Fado coincides with some of the themes that most touched Florbela Espanca: love, destiny, the condition of ‘being Portuguese’, the feminine, intimacy ”

    Simone de Oliveira, Mísia, Joana Melo, Ana Lains, Kátia Guerreiro, Sandra Correia and Joana Amendoeira are some of the voices that interpret Florbela Espanca’s verses.

    Fadista Carla Pires, in the image, a guest artist usually invited to Macega Winery, is one of the voices that immortalized the poetry that marked the tragic existence of this singular poet.

    TERESA TAROUCA, THE SUBLIME ART OF SINGING SADNESS

    In her musical choices, Teresa Tarouca expressed special appreciation for Alfredo Marceneiro, João Ferreira-Rosa, Pedro Homem de Mello and, from the most recent authors, Tiago Torres da Silva.

    She was also known for the sensitive melancholy with which she interpreted the darkest themes.

    The singer goes back to singing Marceneiro’s repertoire, recorded poems from the epic Luís Vaz de Camões and several famous poets, David Mourão-Ferreira, Alain Oulman, Manuela de Freitas, Maria do Rosario Pedreira, Fernando Pessoa, among others.

    Mário Laginha’s piano arrangements, without any intention of replacing traditional guitars, coat and enhance the beauty of the chosen poems.

    For the first time since the Fado & Food Group was created in 2012, the size reached, currently with 4 fado houses in the historic districts of Lisbon, has justified its own stand.

    This significant step has been entirely justified, others follow.
