Book an evening at Adega Machado
Fado begins at 20:30. The kitchen opens at 19:00. There are few tables, and evenings fill up well in advance.
How the evening unfolds
19:00
The doors open and dinner service begins. The first courses arrive unhurried, before the performance — it’s the best time to be seated.
20:30
First fado set. The room falls silent; the kitchen pauses while the singing lasts. Bare voice, three instruments.
01:00
The night stretches on in sets alternating with the courses — and somewhere in between, a guitarrada — until closing.
Late fado, from 22:30
From 22:30 we welcome those who arrive later to hear fado. No set price: a glass of wine, a few petiscos or a late dinner, à la carte. You only pay for what you choose. Booking is recommended.

Do I need to book?
It’s recommended. The room is small for the demand and evenings often sell out. Online booking is instant and free of charge, for up to 10 people.
What time should I arrive?
The doors open at 19:00 and the first fado set begins at 20:30. To dine calmly before the performance, we recommend arriving between 19:00 and 20:00.
How much does the evening cost?
The tasting menu is €72 per person; the wine pairing, chosen by the house, is +€30 (or +€50 for the premium wine pairing). There is no show ticket — fado is part of the evening.

Where is Adega Machado?
At Rua do Norte 91, in Bairro Alto, Lisbon — a few minutes’ walk from Chiado. Look for the tiled façade by Thomaz de Mello, today classified municipal heritage.
How long does the evening last?
Dinner with fado lasts between 2.5 and 3 hours, sometimes longer. Doors open at 19:00, fado begins at 20:30 and the house closes at 01:00.
Can I arrive after 20:30, or come later just for the fado?
Yes. From 22:30 there is late fado. No set price: a glass of wine, a few petiscos or a late dinner, à la carte. You only pay for what you choose. We recommend booking. For dinner with fado from the start, arrive at 19:00, 19:30 or 20:00.
Is there a vegetarian option?
Yes. There is a vegetarian tasting menu, with fado included.
Is there a dress code?
No. Come as you feel comfortable. We only ask for silence when the fado begins.
