QUIM BARREIROS, ONE OF THE SECRETS ABOUT ADEGA MACHADO

One of the greatest artists of Portuguese popular music has been returning to this fado house, the Adega Machado, where he worked decades ago as an accordionist when regional dances were performed here.

Born in Vila Praia de Âncora, his musical roots are based on the Minho (region) folklore.

He is acclaimed by many as the King of Music “Pimba”, a specialist in double-entender letters, being therefore much sought after in Portuguese communities around the world and here, besides the summer festivals, is also high on the academic festivities.

The refrain of some of its successes is known by all, lovers or not: “Garagem da Vizinha” (2000), “A Cabritinha” (2004), “Bacalhau à Portuguesa” (1986).
